Face Racers: Photo Finish (3DS)
Have you ever wanted to star in your very own kart racer video game? Well now you can with Face Racers: Photo Finish. Use the 3DS camera to take pictures of your face, design your avatar’s look and create a kart, then challenge the CPU, your friends, or online in this crazy yet oh so typical kart racer.
Nano Assault (3DS)
Nano Assault has a bigger legacy than what you might think. The developers of the game, Shin’en, have had a history of making visually stunning arcade style shooters on portable systems. It started on the GBA with Iridion 3-D and its sequel. Then on the DS, we had Nanostray. Nano Assault is actually a sequel/spinoff of Nanostray. Except instead of exploring the vastness of outer space, you’ll pilot tiny nano ships as you venture into inner space, blasting microbes and bacteria as you try to stop a deadly virus from spreading across the universe!
Disney Universe (360, PS3, Wii, PC)
Disney Universe is a futuristic virtual world where kids can dress up as their favorite Disney characters and explore famous Disney lands. But when an evil computer takes over the virtual space and kidnaps some of the kids, it’s up to you and up to three friends to save the day! (360 version reviewed here)
Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic (3DS)
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (Wii, DS, Xbox 360 Kinect)
Mario Kart 7 Track Tour
Sing 4 (Wii)
Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town! (Wii)
You’d better watch out, you’d better not cry, you’d better not pout, I’m telling you why: Santa Claus is comin’, to your Wii! Rankin Bass’ stop motion animated TV specials have become almost iconic, such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Yukon Cornelius rocks). Not quite as popular as Rudolph, but still well-known is their Santa Claus origin story: Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. And now you can play it on your Wii!
Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL (Wii, PS3, 360)
Over the summer I bought Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion on 3DS and wrote a blog about it. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the game very much. What a difference a few months and a bigger console makes because the “XL” version of the same game is VASTLY improved over the original. It may not be the perfect Smash Bros. clone, but is good for tiding over until the next big game, and should please fans of Cartoon Network’s animated programs (360 version reviewed here).
Dance Central 2
You make me feel like dancing, Harmonix! As someone who always stood on the sidelines wishing he could join the sexy, sexy women on the dance floor, Dance Central was made for me. Especially since this new version lets two players shake a leg. What I like about Dance Central compared to other dancing games is its seriousness. This is a game that uses real choreography. You will be taught how to Jerk and Crank Dat if you play long enough. Higher difficulty just means more advanced moves with a lot more variation, which forms a nice learning curve for a rhythm game.
