The Guitar Hero franchise has been an enormous success on consoles, but a lot of what makes it such a blast is grabbing the guitar controller and jammin’ away! So when the DS version - Guitar Hero: On Tour - was announced, the big question on everyone’s mind was: how will you control it? Well, today we found out how!

I love playing music on my DS. Even more than playing rhythm games I really connect with the opportunity to make up my own stuff. I completely ate up Jam Sessions and Rhythm & Notes, so when Korg announced they were producing a ‘game’ for the Nintendo DS based on one of their classic analog synths, I was thrilled and disappointed at once: thrilled about the prospects, and disappointed because it was only being released in Japan.
Review - Sam & Max Episode 202: Moai Better Blues (PC)

Season Two of Sam & Max has already hit its groove - the first episode was an absolute blast, and the laughs and crazy fun continue. I had it on my laptop during the vacation we took with my wife’s sister’s family to Disney World over Christmas, and there were loads of laughs for everyone. My kids have finished Season One and the first episode of Season Two and have just been dying to get their hands on this one. The new naming scheme that Telltale adopted for the previous episode continues - rather than the ‘Season X Episode Y’ naming convention they have simplified to ‘Episode 202′, indicating season and episode in a single number. Something that has not changed is the high quality of the writing and jokes.

I had heard good things about Duck Amuck but hadn’t planned on buying until Cary wrote is typically awesome and overflowing review of the mini-games. Then I simply had to get it! And since then it has become a fave in our family - everyone has enjoyed it, but my younger son has taken complete hold of it … I don’t think I’ll ever get to play again. So while it is rare for me to get gaga over a game announcement that isn’t a PC RPG or FPS, this one has me shouting GIMME!
Bully Scholarship Edition: What Parents Need to Know

The first time the game came out, “Bully” caused a loud clamor of anti-gaming groups claiming it glorified and would cause bullying to increase in schools. The special edition that just came out on the Xbox360 is starting a similar furor.
The head of a teacher’s association in Nova Scotia is getting all riled up, and has written an opinion piece for her local paper that has started another storm about the game. She debated Jason Della Rocca, executive director of the International Game Developers Association, on CNC last Sunday and you can watch it here.
After watching all this and reading the inevitable backslash sloshing around the web I dug up the article I wrote when the original came out in October of 2006. From a parent’s perspective nothing’s changed except exactly who is shouting. Here’s the scoop.

One thing I love about Colleen Hannon is her incredibly detailed MomGamer columns. They provide loads of details to any and all questions you have about a subject. Take her look at XBOX360 Parental Controls, for example, as well as the follow-up dealing with specifics based on a user question. If all parents who want to be involved while also allowing their kids access to XBOX Live would read those articles, there would be less for hysterical journalists to use to make peoples’ heads burst into flames.

Part of the recent closing of Iron Lore studios was an estimate that 90% of people playing the studio’s Titan Quest games were on pirated copies. This isn’t the first time that number has been tossed around - there have been other claims of ~10% purchased copies, and the fact that the PC versions of some high-profile shooters were being outsold 5:1 or 10:1 last year by XBOX versions raises the question of just what the numbers of actual players looked like.
