Taiko drums have had a long history in Japanese culture as they are used in festivals, parades, and even during times of war. You’ve probably seen a Taiko drum before and not even known it. They look like a big barrel tipped on its side. Lately, Taiko drums have appeared in a series of popular music/rhythm video games from Namco. First in the arcade, Taiko no Tatsujin (Taiko Drum Master) has since been on home consoles, with the latest one being a sequel on the Nintendo DS. That’s the name of it up there in the title, but since it’s such a mouthful, from here on out we’re just going to call it Taiko DS 2.
Dungeon Explorer: Same name, Two games

Apparently there was a game called Dungeon Explorer released on the TG-16 back in 1989 that was also released on the Wii Virtual Console last year. The game was a fairly blatant Gauntlet-clone with additional RPG elements and some nice varied locations, but nothing all that revolutionary even nineteen years ago - it is certainly not one of those historic gems that brings a nostalgiac tear to older gamers’ eyes. So it is perhaps surprising that Hudson chose this franchise to resurrect for a pair of games on the DS and PSP bearing the same name but otherwise very different. But neither new Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of the Ancient Arts game owes much to the original other than the moniker, and they are different enough to deserve their own reviews.
Review - Gears of War PC/Xbox360

We’ve covered Gears of War in both flavors on the GamerDad main site but CrispyGamer has published my more long-winded take. CrispyGamer isn’t a content review site, so let me say to parents: It’s a very violent game that has players killing alien monsters - not humans. The tone is gritty and a little sophomoric and the multiplayer is rife with foul-mouthed brats who delight in killing their opponents with chainsaws. Fun for late teens and adults, but there’s better fare for kids. Hear is the full review!

Review - Sam & Max Episode 204: Chariots of the Dogs (PC)

Can it possibly be true that we have passed the half-way point in the second season of Sam & Max? Indeed, it is true - with the completion of this episode there is only one more episode to go until we reach the conclusion of Season Two. And what a season it has been! Telltale has managed to outdo themselves at every turn, mixing up the equation of what worked in Season One without compromising the quality of characters, writing or humor at all. Now we have reached the fourth episode - Chariots of the Dogs - and the same amazing pace of hilarity continues without any sign of slowing!

Review - Warhawk for PS3

Warhawk is a sequel to a game most people won’t remember - but that’s okay, remembering isn’t necessary. The game is a massively multiplayer shoot-fest that lets players ride in vehicles or soar through the air - all while fighting real people with real skills. Review - Worms: A Space Oddity

Worms… in… spaaace! The wacky, wily, wiggly, worms find themselves on another console, this time the Wii. Time for some waskally wagglin’? Here’s the content review at WhatTheyPlay (written by me) and here’s what I thought of the game. 6 out of 8. It’s not bad, but the Wii controls can lead to some nasty frustration. Kid Factor? I’d say 8+ for this one.
