Press Start – 4/30/10
Today the kids have friends over. At this moment I’ve got two 7-year old boys jumping around like crazy with Mario Baseball and two 10-year old girls playing Sims 3. First a HILARIOUS Sims 3 story. Last night Maggie asked me “What does WhooHoo mean?” I was honest and told her, “That’s how the Sims have sex.” Her face fell with a crash and she said, “That’s how they get a baby?” and I nodded yes. Then she said, “Dad, can you make them WooHoo when I’m not around?” Ah, innocence. I feel like a Pimp though.

The boy has suddenly switched from New Super Mario Bros Wii to Mario Tennis Wii, which is a welcome change and adorable because he’s 7 and still seems to think that if he jumps, it makes his shot better. He’s good, so who am I to argue? Maggie just asked me how to get Sims to marry in Sims3 – I told her it involves lots of kissing and, being 10, she made a sour face.
Monster Hunter 3 Tri
I can’t pretend to know anything about the Monster Hunter series except that it’s big in Japan, role-playing game-lite, hard, and filled to the brim with cool giant monsters that don’t look like people in rubber suits. Monster Hunter 3, excuse me, Monster Hunter Tri is all of these things. Filled with giant, and I might add very cool, monsters and is hard. It also gives a nod to role-playing in that you’ve got to upgrade your equipment – not your character – to survive.
The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai (Reader Review)
ROFLCopter (age 15) has found an odd little game available on Xbox Live Arcade. It is likely the best game about a Samurai dishwasher (the job, not the appliance) ever made. Ladies and gentlemen, I present The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai and thank you ROFLCopter (readers can submit any review of any game they like at the email to your left)

Happy Birthday to Me
Yesterday was my birthday! 39, and I don’t feel a day older than 39. My parents took the kids on Saturday and returned them Sunday afternoon, so Linda and I had a lovely dinner of South American food – Pork Verde and a couple drinks and then we came home and watched a movie. The next morning we hung out and took a small nap (these are BIG events if you’re married). When the kids got home, they got to wale on my with pillows 39 times each + one to grow on. Then dinner – garlic mashed potatoes, peas, a small Filet Mignon and asparagus – and for dessert, I opted for Chocolate Pie. 3 bottles of wine later, my folks left and while Linda played Guitar and then Drums, I played Guitar and then sang. We did the Abbey Road Medley and more! A lovely Sunday, and no video game monsters got killed. Today is a different matter!
Game Review: What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? 2 (PSP)
The sequel to one of the most wacky and creative PSP games is coming out soon in early May. Available on UMD this time, and a little later on PSN, What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? 2 is the predecessor to an even longer title: Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This? The first title was so long that it’s been since shortened to What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? In these games, you get to be the bad guy. Dig out dungeon mazes and fill them with monsters to kill waves of heroic adventurers. But this time, there’s more of everything. More monsters, more heroes, and more stages.
Resident Evil 4
LUCAS (15) - So I’m 15 as of last week and I wanted to get Resident Evil 4 Wii edition I tried to get it last year for my 14th birthday. I used whattheyplay.com and even showed my mom videos of it on youtube and she was fine with it until we got to the store I almost got it when the store clerk said it was the most bloodiest goriest game on the Wii and i know that’s not true (which i don’t understand why they would do that it just kills sales even the other store member came in to back him up the wierd part was we were talking about it before my mom came in about how fun and great it was) If you remember Manhunt 2 that was the goriest game for Wii i just want this game. whattheyplay.com even recommended it for me so i need to know is it fine to let me play this or what. its a really fun game and i want to play it and i have waited 3 years to get it so I need your help.
Pixar Disappoints?
I could be wrong but the just announced slate from Pixar/Disney has me a bit apprehensive. I like Pixar because I never know what the next movie will BE! It’s always a surprise. Something new and risky. So, what’s coming soonish? Will it be insanely creative like Up or Monsters Inc? Will it be fun and simple like A Bugs Life and Cars? Will it be amazingly beautiful and artistic like Ratatouille, Finding Nemo and Wall-E? Will it be a load of just plain fun, Incredibles? Will it be comfortable? Toy Story 1 & 2? This summer we get Toy Story 3, then Cars 2, then Monsters Inc., 2, somewhere around then we get a remake of Winnie the Pooh and a Muppet Movie (those are through Disney). The only original film seems to be about a Bear & a Bow and that’s just putting that Disney bear cartoon – the one that wasn’t bad – in my head. Where’s the risk? Come on Pixar, don’t give up clearing the path. You’re not about exploiting your IPs.
