Yeah XSEED has been releasing some stellar games this year. I’m thankful they released this game as well as Retro Game Challenge.

I’ve played through the demos and really enjoyed the Hero 30. The Evil Lord 30 adds a different layer of strategy to the mix. But yes, both are a great introduction for people curious about the game. Any RPG fan should be hooked by the first two missions in the demo.

Cary, have you tried the Hero 300 mode? Not to ruin any spoilers, though, but it seems like another twist on the traditional RPG grind formula.

As for digital vs. UMD, that’s a whole different discussion. I’m just thankful that XSEED brought it over.

There are a couple of demos of Half-Minute Hero that you can download from the PSP store. As for me, I’m glad the game is in UMD form. I guess if all you had was a PSP Go, you’d be out of luck. But if you have a regular PSP, this game is highly recommended. –Cary

Thank you for your recent run of articles over the last two weeks. As a gamer who grew up in the 8 and 16 bit eras, I’ve been looking forward to this game since I read about it. Thanks for the review. I’m just disappointed that it was not on the PSN store…
