Game Review: Hysteria Hospital: Emergency Ward (DS)

HOSPITAL_BOXToday’s video games let you imagine yourself as any type of occupation, and not just a hardened mercenary or princess rescuing plumber. In some games you can be a doctor, a chef, even a lawyer. But in Hysteria Hospital: Emergency Ward, as a male or female nurse, it’s your job to guide patients to the doctor, then a bed, get the appropriate medicine, and send them on their way when they’re all better and happy.

Hysteria Hospital on the DS is very similar to other styles of multitasking occupational simulators like Diner Dash, Cake Mania, or Sally’s Salon. Use the stylus and touch screen to drag patients from the waiting room to the diagnosis desk, then a hospital bed, and nab their prescription. When they’re all better, don’t forget to take the sheets to the laundry!

Make sure to do each job quickly, otherwise your patients will become impatient and leave, and you’ll lose money. Take care of enough patients before time runs out and you win. Use your earned money to buy more hospital equipment to make your job easier. Play through Story Mode and work your way up to bigger and better hospitals, or see how far you can get in Endless Mode. Aside from being exactly like every other kind of game of this ilk, there’s nothing really wrong with this one and players who enjoy these types of challenges will probably enjoy Hysteria Hospital as well.

Kid Factor:

Hysteria Hospital: Emergency Ward is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Comic Mischief. Nothing objectionable here, but even though there are picture cues to let you know what to do, reading skill is still helpful.
