Know what "God Game" on the SNES that I really liked? ActRaiser. But that was a totally different game than Populous OR SimCity! --Cary

I agree with Matt - yeah, you are playing a God Game, but it feels very different. There is a DS Sim City port as well.

Sim City is, in my mind, an entirely different sort of game. It is more contemplative and planning oriented, where Populous is more of a conflict/wargame. Some consider them both "God Games" which I suppose could be true, but they feel totally different to me.

If Sim City was played in a mode where you were building your city and could then send people over to attack another player's city, then it would feel more like Populous. (Or at least be a VS mode to Sim City in some sort of way... perhaps "discourage" rampaging monsters and make them head towards the opponent's city...)

I rented Populous on the SNES back in the day and had no idea what I was doing. I enjoyed SNES Sim City much more. --Cary
